Religious Education

Kindergarten - 5th Grade parishioners who are not enrolled in a Catholic school will enroll the 2nd week of September for R.E. Classes are held on Sunday from 9:30 - 10:45am at Newman High School, front, center entrance.

Classes run through Palm Sunday and run accordingly holiday weekends and school breaks.

Catechists for each grade level:

Kindergarten - Ms. Sarah Gascoigne
1st Grade - Mrs. Joan Gascoigne
2nd Grade - Mrs. Kim Ramirez
3rd Grade - Mrs. Patti Hellwig
4th Grade - Mr. Myles Newberry
5th Grade - Mr. Jonathan Mattox

Catechists receive training through the Sterling deanery Religious Education Office - Rockford Diocese required certification programs, as well as Protecting God's Children.

6th-8th Grade Religious Education is held on Sunday evenings in the Sacred Heart Church parish hall from 6:00 - 7:30pm.

Classes run through May and run accordingly with holiday weekends and school breaks.

Catechists are Peg Hoffmiller and Dawn Harrielle

Confirmation

Confirmation classes are held every other year for ALL 9th-10th grade Sacred Heart parishioners, including parochial school students.

Confirmation dates, as Bishop is available, take place in the fall following the year of preparation.

Registration takees place the 2nd week of September and classes run for 1 year from September-May. Classes begin September 25, 2011, for the next class.
