The Divergence was born in November 2010, when the musically curious souls of Daniel Penner and Phil McNeal collided somewhere in New Jersey. Unsure how to synthesize their highly disparate musical tastes into a well-adjusted sonic love-child, the boys enlisted guitarist Arjun Jain to help conciliate Daniel’'s rock and Phil'’s roll. With Arjun's arrival came a creative spark that resulted in a lot of writing, a bit of gigging, and a good amount of recording. A self-produced EP surfaced in a matter of months, and The Divergence was officially on the map. As things began to take shape, the guys came to realize that their creative rapport—, while effective—, lacked the sturdiness that could only be found in a killin'’ bassist. After a single rehearsal and a damn good sales pitch from the band, Eric Weiser joined the party. Within a week, the band was in Berlin, Germany with producers The Berman Brothers recording the forthcoming No Words EP, scheduled for release in early 2012. The guys have been shedding new material since their return to the States, and look forward to recording a full-length in the not-too-distant future. In the meantime, keep an eye out for the new EP and upcoming shows, and don’'t hesitate to contact the band with any questions or comments you care to share.
