Membership

When should I become a member of the church?

There is no formula for the right time to become a participating member of the church. The answer is based on your personal development. If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and are committed to Him and this local body, you may be ready to join the church.

How do I become a Member?

Vital Christianity is a class required for membership. It is intended primarily for those who are interested in joining the church, but is open to anyone who would like to gain a better understanding of the basics of the Christian Faith. The general topics include “Life in Christ,” “Life in the Spirit,” and “Life in Community.”

The class also includes teaching relative to both the Fruit of the Spirit and the Gifts of the Spirit. Inventories are offered to assist participants in learning more about both of these in their own life.

Expectations of Vital Christianity :

Attend all classes
Complete makeup lessons if you miss a class
Participate in class discussions
Complete all homework
Participate in a Membership Interview (even if you choose not to become a member).

Membership Commitment

If you decide to become a member of the church at the conclusion of Vital Christianity, you will make the following commitment:

“I hereby commit myself to the Lord Jesus and His Body The Church.
I will strive to live out my membership commitments in a way that honors Christ and advances His kingdom.
I am committing myself to support the ministries of the church with my prayers, presence, gifts, and service.
I also understand that if I fail to live up to these commitments,
the leaders of Santa Claus United Methodist Church have the God-given duty to correct me in love.”
